WELCOME to Blake Lively Tribute: you're NUMBER ONE SOURCE to everything on the gorgeous and very talented Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively.
Blake Lively was born in a showbiz family in California and quickly followed her parents and siblings steps. Her first role was Trixie the Tooth Fairy in 1998 movie "Sandman" directed by her Dad, Ernie Blake.
Her big break came along a few years later though. Blake was up to finish high school when she got the co-starring role of Bridget in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" on 2005.
Blake was perfect for the part of Bridget, so much that with no big references or even auditioning she landed the part! She revealed she walked in and left a photo of herself and that was it, yet it was clear that she was the Brigit needed.
After "The Sisterhood", Blake went back to high school for a her senior year and had the life of a regular teenager, a ver busy regular teenager. The multi-talented girl was class president, a cheerleader and performed with the choir.
All this didn't stand in her way to continue to purse acting, she landed a role opposite Justin Long in big-screen comedy "Accepted", and starred in "Elvis and Anabelle" aswell.
Her major breakthrough to Hollywood teen queen came through television though, with "Gossip Girl" - where Blake stars as Serena van der Woodsen. The CW drama broke records for the network and quickly become a major guilty pleasure - still strong in its fourth season.
Meanwhile the blond beauty went for the big screen too, looking for opportunities to challenge herself. She got back together with friends America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn and Alexis Bledel for "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2", later grabbed a role in all-high-profile-stars movie "New York, I Love You" and moved onto even bigger roles.
Blake got both her parts in Rebecca Miller's "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" and Ben Affleck's "The Town" after impressing the directors who both though she was a "complete unknown" - to later find out she starred on a major tv show. Blake shared she got hired on the spot after auditioning for "Pippa Lee". She told Interview, "I did the few scenes [...] Rebecca said just stay here for a minute, walked out of the room, came back two minutes later and said, 'You're my Pippa. I'm not making this movie with anyone else.'". "The Town" was the biggest strech for Blake, who loved to challenge of stepping out of her comfort zone onto a drug addict stripper with a young son, plus a Boston accent. Affleck admitted being "stunned" by Blake's performance to Esquire sharing, "The whole movie kind of hinges in a lot of ways on her performance, and I knew it was going to be the hardest part to cast. This girl came in, and no one had said to me beforehand, 'Hey, look for this person.' And obviously she was really attractive, and so I thought, 'Oh, here comes some blonde girl.' She came in, did one reading, and just crushed it. I was sort of stunned. I said, 'Jeez, you know, that was really f**king good. Who are you?' She didn't mention that she was on a television show. I just said, 'Look, there's no alternative. I don't have a second choice (in casting this role)."
On 2011 we'll see Blake, opposite Ryan Reynolds, stepping into the shoes of the female lead in "Green Lantern", Martin Campbell's reimagining of the masked comic-book superhero whose green ring confers its wearer with certain all-consuming powers.
