Getting ready for another day of work, Blake Lively and Penn Badgley were spotted walking to the set of “Gossip Girl” in New York City on Tuesday (September 23). A source on the scene tells, “Blake turned good Samaritan along the way, helping open a door when a lady came in her apartment building pushing a baby on a stroller. After that, she and Penn hid behind their two bodyguards.”
Meanwhile, the co-star couple’s show has been having quite the successful season, once again pulling in strong numbers despite a highly competitive Monday night that included season premieres of “Dancing with the Stars” and “Heroes”. According to preliminary Nielsen ratings, the CW hit “Gossip Girl” drew a strong 3.9/11 in its core demographic of women aged 18-34 (3.4 million viewers overall). Source: Celebrity-gossip.net

Gossip's Terrific Twos

In its second season, the guilty pleasure may carry the new CW lineup.
The ratings are heating up for Gossip Girl, the teen drama about a gossip blog that follows the kids at a Manhattan prep school, just in time for it to add buzz to the new lineup the struggling CW network rolls out October 5.
With record-breaking audiences so far this season, the once troubled network now has a bona fide hit on its hands—and a solid shot at generating respectable ratings gains across the network.
"Gossip Girl has hit the opposite of a sophomore slump. It's hitting a sophomore rise," says Jason Maltby, president of national broadcast for MindShare, an ad-buying agency. "That's key, because it's now the flag of the network."
This past Monday, the show delivered a series high of 3.7 million viewers, topping the previous record for the season two premiere on Labor Day. ... Read More ...

Ads That Generate a Buzz of Their Own

Pictures of pretty blond actress Blake Lively -- in the throes of passion with her dark, chiseled co-star Chace Crawford -- cropped up on billboards in April, sending bloggers and parents into a frenzy at the sexual intimacy on display. What was more shocking: that the two play high school students on "Gossip Girl," the series that the ads were promoting? Or was it the string of letters at the bottom of the ad: "OM[unprintable letter]G"?
Rick Haskins, CW executive vice president of marketing, spearheaded the controversial ad campaign, and the network upped the ante this fall. This season has four new ads featuring different "Gossip Girl" cast members in provocative situations, taken from scenes of the show -- complete with quotes from outraged critics splashed across the photos. Whether or not a shirtless Crawford cradling a lingerie-clad lover twice his age (played by Madchen Amick) is "mind-blowingly inappropriate," Haskins knows one thing: He's got your attention.
We asked Haskins to share how these ads came about.

America Ferrera Rips “The Hills,” “Gossip Girl”

Ferrera is reportedly best friends with Blake Lively, who stars in Gossip Girl.
America Ferrera doesn't like the influence that shows like Gossip Girl and The Hills have over young women because they condition them to be mean. She also goes on to say that they are not accurate in the way they display female relationships.
"Close, genuine female relationships are not what generally gets depicted in movies and TV shows," Ferrera says in the October issue of Seventeen. "Like, if you're watching 'The Hills' or '90210,' all the backstabbing shapes the way we act - you go to school and you think your job is to find a sworn enemy and be jealous of each other." ... "Gossip Girl" Cast Gets Dose In Real Life

 The hit TV show "Gossip Girl," which is narrated by a character called "The Gossip Girl," centers around wealthy and sometimes wild New York teens.
Unfortunately, the cast has to deal with a healthy dose of real life gossip off the set, too. Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez stopped by the set of "Gossip Girl" to chat with the cast while they film their new season in Queens, New York. Rodriguez talked with Blake Lively ("Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants"), who plays Serena van der Woodsen on the show.
"We had a wonderful response the first season that we're really excited to bring a second one back. I think we've got a lot of really exciting, great story lines and new characters," Lively said. ... Read More ...

Blake Lively Invites Gossip at Retro Bash

Blake Lively just turned 21, but she still seems stuck in the '20s. The Gossip Girl starlet and all her castmates celebrated with a 1920s-themed bash at the Palace Hotel, natch. The birthday girl planned the entire soiree herself.
"I love to plan parties," Blake told Life & Style. "That would be my career if I wasn't an actress."
Soulful singer Michael Bublé serenaded her with a special version of "Happy Birthday to You," while guests downed peach mimosas. Lively, who doesn't like to drink, toasted with Coca-Cola, instead of the other bubbly beverage. And any news about Penn Badgley, with whom she's linked both on and off camera?
"They were very cozy," according to an onlooker.

Another piece of advice: "Just smile."
The "Gossip Girl" star's entourage included her publicist and sister. They were immediately swarmed by video cameras and photographers at the Wednesday presentation for Kors' spring collection in the Bryant Park tents.
